چکیده
The conventional method of simulating networks, i.e. packet-by-packet, always consumes many hours and often days of ‘real’ time just to simulate a few hours of ‘simulation’ time. Accelerated simulation techniques reduce the number of events simulated and decrease the time needed for an experiment. In this paper we describe our approach to accelerate simulation of a power-law aggregated ON/OFF traffic through a FIFO queue, and then extend the same idea to a non-FIFO queue.

In ATM networks, the Guaranteed Frame Rate (GFR) service has been proposed to accommodate non-real-time traffic with packet size not exceeding a maximum length, such as TCP/IP based traffic. The GFR service not only guarantees a minimum throughput at the frame level, but also supports a fair share of available resources. In this article, we propose a buffering strategy called Intelligent Fair B...
متن کاملCross-layer Packet-dependant OFDM Scheduling Based on Proportional Fairness
This paper assumes each user has more than one queue, derives a new packet-dependant proportional fairness power allocation pattern based on the sum of weight capacity and the packet’s priority in users’ queues, and proposes 4 new cross-layer packet-dependant OFDM scheduling schemes based on proportional fairness for heterogeneous classes of traffic. Scenario 1, scenario 2 and scenario 3 lead r...
متن کاملQoS guarantee over DQCA for Wireless LANs with heterogeneous traffic
Distributed Queuing Collision Avoidance (DQCA) is an efficient MAC protocol designed for infrastructure Wireless LANs. In this paper, four algorithms are proposed that alter the FIFO scheduling order of DQCA in order to meet specific network requirements. The proposed schemes combine the efficiency of opportunistic scheduling with the QoS provisioning through service differentiation. The throug...
متن کاملQoS Support for Real-Time Flows in Internet Routers
This paper addresses how to offer a specific QoS for soft-real time distributed applications over the Internet. The approach here proposed is entrusting the routers with the task of providing diversified scheduling for real-time and non-real-time flows, keeping the two types of traffic into separate queues and applying a deadline-based scheduling to real-time flows and a FIFO policy to non-real...
